News just released today shows that EA is set to buy racing game develop Codemaster for $1.2 Billion Dollars.  This comes after news earlier in the month that rival Take-Two was going to purchase the company known for titles such as the Dirt Series, Grid, Project Cars and Formula 1 for just shy of a billion dollars.  With this move it seems that EA is making sure they keep a hold on being the top developer when it comes to the racing world of video games.  They know add the previously mentioned gaming franchises to their own racing stable that includes Need for Speed and Burnout.

Many die-hard fans of the series’ produced by Codemasters are worried about Electronic Arts forcing their commonly known and used micro-transactions within their games.  Only time will tell how the giant will handle their newly acquired franchises.
