The Lord of Terror is coming back and looking better than ever! Blizzard announced at BlizzConline that they will be releasing a remastered version of the classic Diablo II. Yes, I know I spent many…many…MANY hours in this game. Playing through every character, looking for the next best loot.  This remaster will include both the base game and the expansion Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. This means we all get to fight through the frozen wastelands, battle through Tristram, and wade through the murky sewers.

Check out the trailer!

All the classes are back from Diablo II:

  • Amazon
  • Assassin
  • Necromancer
  • Barbarian
  • Paladin
  • Sorceress
  • Druid

A remaster means that Blizzard is focusing on keeping true to the original game.  They have update the visual sprites from 2D to 3D.  You can see the difference in these videos.

Old SD Version of Tristram

New HD Version of Tristram

The new remastered version will also include cross platform support.  You will be able to have all your characters across all supported platforms (PC, Switch, PS5, PS4 and XBOX Series X | S) and keep your levels, quests, progress, skills and talents.  All of this will require a Battle, net account and separate purchases over each platform.

Also new in Diablo II: Resurrected

Revamped ladder seasons with more restarts to see how you compare against other players worldwide

A redesigned UI character Sheet, tool tips / comparisons

Expanded stash to have more loot than before. (6×8 –> 10×10)  Also there will be a shared loot tab to reduce the time spent on inventory management and more time killing demons!

I have to say that I am excited about this announcement.  I love that they are keeping the core game intact and not trying to remake it.  This game is a classic.

Platforms supported will be on PC, Switch, PS5, PS4 and XBOX Series X | S

Pre-order Price on PC is $39.99 USD / $54.99 CND
