The LOST ARK Beta is WOW! Overview & Review of the new MMO coming soon
Lost Ark Closed Beta is WOW!
Tripod Studio/Smilegate RPG’s (a.k.a. Amazon Games) latest offering LOST ARK is currently in closed technical beta through November 11th and it is, in its current state, a very solid game. The title takes a little from some heavy hitters in the dungeon explorer/action RPG/MMO game space such as Diablo, Final Fantasy Online, World of Warcraft, and a few more and as of now putting it all together really well in a very polished looking action MMO experience.
Lost Ark’s control scheme shouldn’t work as well as it does with movement and attack both being executed exclusively with the mouse. The movement is a point and click with one mouse button (yet feels very smooth) while your basic attack is executed with the other mouse button. The player’s special attacks are bound to the Q, W, E, R, A, S, and D buttons depending on what weapon you are using at the time. After getting used to the fighting system it’s really easy to master and the enemies are challenging but not impossible.
The character classes are Warrior, Martial Artist, Gunner, Mage, and Assassin with more specialized advanced classes such as Gunslinger, Artillerist, Deadeye and Sharpshooter for the Gunner class; Striker, Wardancer, Scrapper and Soulfist for the Martial Artist; Bard and Summoner for the Mage; Berserker, Paladin, and Gunlancer for the Warrior; Shadowhunter and Deathblade for the Assassin. The game also features a pretty cool “Pet” system that adds buffs and skills to your character, plus it’s cute AF.
My time in the beta was spent as a Deadeye and I shot (and shot) my days away leveling up, completing quests, and ending all sorts of creatures, the things we have come to expect from a solid dungeon crawling MMO experience. The Closed Beta goes through the 11th of November 2021 with a release date, originally planned for early December 2021, is now early 2022 with some reports declaring March 31st, 2022. Lost Ark is free to play with plenty of opportunities to get your hard-earned dollars in the form of in-game purchases. Take it for what it is but one thing it does well is visually stunning with, as of now, solid gameplay.
After playing the beta release for more hours then I would like to admit I will be here for it when it’s officially released early next year. Please enjoy this trailer from Summer Game Fest 2021, be happy, be cool and play on.
