Valorant North America Stage 2 Challenger 1 Weekend Results
WOW! All I have to say is WOW! The quality and skill level of the pro Valorant teams keep getting better and better!
This weekend marked the end of the first NA Stage 2 Challenger 1 event of the 2021 season. The open qualifiers the week of April 1-4 whittled down 128 teams down to 8 for the weekend of April 8-11. Top 4 qualify for the Challenger Finals and a chance to qualify for Valorant Masters 2 in Iceland. This wil be the first official Valorant international LAN.
The eight teams that competed this weekend were:
- Built by Gamers (BBG)
- Team Envy
- Cloud9 Blue
- 100 Thieves(100T)
The upper brackets saw a lot of hard fought matches with 100T making it to the Grand Finals in the upper bracket.
In the lower bracket saw all but one matchups needing to all go the full three games to reach a winner. Coming out on top was XSet getting revenge on Team Envy from an earlier loss in the upper bracket.
The Grand finals saw 100T and XSet fight it out in a very close match-up, many clutches and amazing momentum swings. In the end, 100T came out victorious with a total team effort 3-1. Don’t let the game differential sway you, XSet played amazing with the rounds going in favour of 100T (15-13, 11-13, 13-10, 13-11). So, as you can see, none were blowouts and each could have been decided by one play or one map of a swing.
I am for sure going to look forward to seeing these two teams go up against each other again in the Challenger Finals for the chance to represent North America in Iceland (top 2 teams get the invite)
Here were the final standings and winnings:
(Top 4 teams get invites to the Challenger Finals and the bottom 4 teams are auto qualified for Challenger Stage 2
